BLY Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exception of those parts left unassembled for shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor, all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct tools as necessary to insure proper tightness_ TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY A socket wrench set will make assembly easier. Standard wrench sizes are listed.

OPERATION i,i ll,lll i i ................................................... The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses oreye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs. We recommend a wide vision safety mask over the spectacles or standard safety glasses.
OPERATION TO ADJUST TO OPERATE GAUGE WHEELS (See Fig. 9) J Adjust gauge wheels with tractor on a flat level surface° • Adjust mower to desired cutting height (s_e "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT" in the Operation section of this manuat)_ • With mower in desired height of cut position, gauge wheels should be assembled so they are siighttyoff the ground. Install gauge wheel in appropriate hole with shoulder bolt, 3/8 washer, and 3/8-16 Iocknutand tighten securely.
O A ON BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE • Depress clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL (See Fig. 16) o o Place motion control lever in neutral (N) position. Move attachment ctutch to "DISENGAGED" position+ = Move throttle control lever to choke (N) position for cold engine start+ For warm engine start, move throttle control to fast (,_) position. Insertkeyinto ignition and turn keyclockwise to"START" position and release key as soon as engine starts.
ATION ° Sitting inthetractor seat, start engine. Afterthe engine is running, move throttle control to half (1!2) speed. With motion control lever'in neutral (N) position, slowly disengage clutch/brake pedal. MULCHING IMPORTANT: FOR BEST PERFORMANCE, KEEP MOWER HOUSING FREE OF BUILT-UP GRASS AND TRASH, CLEAN AFTER EACH USE. ° Slowly move motior_ control lever forward, after the tractor moves approximately five (5) feet, slowly move motion control lever to reverse position.

ER R TRACTOR TO SHARPEN BLADE (See Fig. 15) Care should be taken to keep the blade balanced_ An unbalanced blade willcause excessive vibration and eventual damage to mower and engine. • The blade can be sharpened with a file or on a grinding wheel Do not attempt to sharpen while on the mower.
CUSTOMER RESPO TRANSAXLE COOLING BIL ES TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL (See Figs. 15 and 17) The fan and cooling fins of transmission should be kept clean to assure proper cooling° Determine temperature range expected before oil change_ All oil must meet API service classification SF or SG, Do not attempt to clean fan or transmission while engine is running or while the transmission is hot° o ° ° o o Inspect cooling fan to be sure fan blades are intact and clean.
SIBILITIES CUSTOMER AIR FILTER (See Fig. 17) Your engine wilt not run property using a dirty air filter. Clean the foam pre-cleaner after every 25 hours of operation or every season° Service paper cartridge every 100 hoursof operation or every season, whichever occursfirst° J Service air cleaner more often under dusty conditions. • Remove knob and cover. ( • Remove wing nut and air cleaner from base, TO SERVICE PRE-CLEANER ° • Slide foam pre_cleaner off cartddgev Wash it in liquid detergent and water.

Place motion control lm/er in neutral (N) position. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position. Turn ignition key "OFF" and remove key. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.

IF THE FOLLOWING FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT IS NECESSARY, BE SURETO ADJUST BOTH FRONT LINKS EQUALLY SO MOWER WILL STAY LEVEL SIDE-TOSIDEo TO LEVEL MOWER HOUSING Adjust the mower while tractor is parked on level ground or' driveway. Make sure tires are properly inflated (See "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" on page 3 of this manual).
ERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE MOWER DRIVE BELT TO REPLACE (See Fig. 26) MOWER DRIVE BELT REMOVAL (See Fig_25) o Park tractor on a levet surface. Engage parking brake_ ° Remove four screws from L,H. mandrel cover and remove cover° . Roll belt over the top of Loll. mandrel pulley,, • Remove belt from electric clutch pulley. • Remove belt from idler pulleys° ° Remove any dirt or grass clippings which may have accumulated around mandrels and entire upper deck surface.

Depress clutch/Drakepedaland engage parking brake_ Measure distance between brake operating arm and nut "A"on brake rod. ° Ifdistance is other than 1-3/4", loosenjam nutand turn nut "A" until distance becomes 1-3/4", Retighten jam nut against nut "A".
