Deck Spindle

Greasefittingscan be foundon eachdeckspindle.SeeFigure26.

Lubricatewith251HEPgreaseoran equivalentNo.2 multi-purpose

lithiumgrease.Usinga greasegun, applytwostrokes(minimum)or

sufficientgreaseto the spindleshaft.

ADJUSTMENTS

Shutthe engineoff,removethe ignitionkeyandengagethe parking

brakebeforemakingadjustments.Protectyour handsby usingheavy

gloveswhenhandlingthe blades.

NOTE:Checkthe tractor'stire pressurebeforeperforminganydeck

levelingadjustments.Referto Tireson page24for informationregard-

ingtire pressure.

Leveling the Deck (Front To Rear)

Thefrontof the cuttingdeckis supportedby a stabilizerbarthatcan

beadjustedto levelthe deckfromfrontto rear.Thefrontof the deck

shouldbebetween1/4-inchand3/8-inchlowerthanthe rearof the

deck.Adjustif necessaryas follows:

1. Parkthe tractorparkedona firm,level surfaceandplacethe deck

lift leverinthe middleposition.

2. Rotatethe bladenearestthe dischargechutecoverso thatit is

parallelwiththe tractor.

3. Measurethe distancefromthe frontof the bladetip to theground

andthe rearof the bladetipto the ground.The firstmeasurement

takenshouldbebetween1/4"and 3/8" lessthanthe second

measurement.

Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor properadjustment

and proceed,if necessary.

1. To raisethe frontof the deck,tighten(threadinward)thelocknut

againstthe fronthangerbracket.See Figure27.

2. To lowerthe frontofthe deck,loosen(threadoutward)the lock

nut,awayfromthe fronthangerbracket.

Leveling the Deck (Side to Side)

Ifthe cuttingdeckappearsto be mowingunevenly,a sideto side

adjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessaryas follows:

1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm, levelsurface,placethe decklift

leverin the middlepositionand rotatebothbladesso thattheyare

perpendicularwiththe tractor.

2. Measurethedistancefromthe outsideof the left bladetip to the

groundandthe distancefromthe outsideof therightbladetipto

the ground.Bothmeasurementstakenshouldbeequal.Ifthey're

not, proceedto the nextstep.
