The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA) identifies eight
major food allergens. These allergens are Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean Shellfish, Tree Nuts,
Peanuts, Wheat and Soybeans.
The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) which established the SQF Code is a process and
product certification standard for food safety. Allergen Management, Section 2.8.2.1; sub-
section i, of the 2012 revision requires the identification and control of allergens including food
grade lubricants.
