4. First-aid measures
If breathing is difficult, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
Call a physician if symptoms develop or persist.
Inhalation
Wash off with plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
Skin contact
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if
present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
Eye contact
Do not induce vomiting. Give 1-2 glasses of water or milk and call a physician or poison control
center immediately. Never give anything by mouth to a victim who is unconscious or is having
convulsions. If vomiting occurs, keep head low so that stomach content doesn't get into the lungs.
Ingestion
Severe eye irritation. Symptoms may include stinging, tearing, redness, swelling, and blurred
vision. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause irritation.
Most important
symptoms/effects, acute and
delayed
Due to irritating properties, swallowing may result in burns/ulceration of mouth, stomach and lower
gastrointestinal tract with subsequent stricture. Aspiration of vomitus may cause lung injury.
Suggest endotracheal/esophageal control if lavage is done. If burn is present, treat as any thermal
burn, after decontamination. No specific antidote. Treatment of exposure should be directed at the
control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient.
