3078 Rail & Post Fastener

Use to fasten hand rails to newel posts or newel posts to stair risers

1. Drill a 1" hole in the face of the newel leaving 1" to 1-1/2" of mate-

rial on the back side.

2. Drill a 1/2" clearance hole through the rest of the newel.

3. Drill a 1/4" pilot hole slightly deeper than what the bolt will penetrate

into the rail or stair riser.

4. Install the washer over the bolt shaft and tighten using a 9/16"

socket wrench and extension.

5. Apply glue to the inside of the hole and tap the plug into place leaving

slightly above flush.

6. Let dry and sand flush.

Tools Needed: Socket Wrenches: 9/16"

1/4" Twist Bit, 1/2" Spade Bit, and 1" Spade Bit.
