Operate

bilge blowers for

minutes. Fuel fumes are heavier
than
air
and
will
sink
to
the
lowest
part
of
the
boat.
Before starting the engines, c

ck for any fumes

bilge.
Ventilate the boat until
the
fumes are no
longer
present.
Repair
any
leaks
immediately.

• Practice Makes Perfect!
Stan
in calm water with
no
wind
and
lots
of
room
un
til you
get
the
feel for
the
boat
and
its controls.
• Maneuvering
is
accomplished
with the
engine
in
gear
and
propeller
turning.
At slow speed, with shift control disabled,
turning
the
outdrive
has
little or
no
effect
on
boat direction.
With engine in
gear
,
the
higher
the
engine
speed
the
quicker
the
steeri
ng
response.

Forces! Check
the
wind
direction
and
veloci
ty,
as
well
as
the water currents.
Use
the
external
forces to
your advantage when maneuvering;
don't
fight
them
.
