CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION
NO TE : The vehicle must have been driv en so that the
engine and transmission are at normal ope rating tem-
perature. (flu id t em perature: 70 - ao °c or 158 - 176 ° F)
(a) Park the vehi cl e on a level surface.
(bl With
the engine idling, shift the sel ector i nto each
gear from
the " P" range to the "L" range and return
to the " P" range aga in.
(c) P ull out the transmission dipstic k and wipe it clean.
(d) Push it back fully in to the fille r tube.
l e) Pu ll it out and che ck that the fluid level is in the HOT
range.
If low, add fluid.
Fluid type: ATF DEXRON® D
CAUTION : Do not overfill.
20. REPLACE MANUAL TRANSMISSION, TRANSFER
AND DIFFERENTIAL OIL
(al Remove th e drain plug and dra in the oil.
(b) Reinsta ll the drain plug.
(e) Add n ew oil until it begins to run out of the filler
hole.

(a) Remove the drain pl ug and drain th e flu id.
(b) Reinstall
the drain p l ug securely.
Torque : 280 kg-cm ( 20 ft - Ib , 27 N·m)
