1. GETTING STARTED
These are the basic external components of the Location-Tag™

5. LOCATION-TAG™ FEATURES
Using the F
eature button, you can activate some of the features
suppor
ted b
y your Location-Tag™.
Location Request
To have your current location information sent to the application,
pr
ess and hold the F
eatur
e button until the Status indicator
flashes off briefl

pproximately 2 seconds). ***
While the location inf
ormation is being generated,
the
Status indicator light will flash green once every second.
*** The Status indicator light will be on while you press the Feature button, except for the
brief period when it flashes off at 2 seconds (Location Request) and 4 seconds (Set or
Cancel Geof
ence),
to let you kno
w that your r
equest has been accepted.
2. INSTALLING THE BATTERY
1. Press in on the battery door tab and pivot the battery door
up, to remove it from your Location-Tag™.
2. Align the metal contacts on the battery with the contacts
inside the batter
y compartment. The text on the battery will
be on the side facing you.
3. Insert the battery into the compartment at a 45 degree angle
and then press it into place.
4. Select the instruction label with your desired language, and
carefully apply it to the inside of the battery door.
5.
Hook the long edge of the battery door into the Location-Tag™,
and pivot the battery door down until the tab clicks into place.
3. CHARGING THE BATTERY
Before using Location-Tag™, you need to charge the battery.
We recommend charging for a minimum of four hours (or until
the indicator light is solid green) before first use.
1. Plug the AC charger into a wall outlet.
2. Connect the charger cable to the charging port on the end
of your Location-Tag™.
When your Location-Tag™ is connected to a power source, the
Power indicator light glows solid, and the color of the light
indicates the charging status.
NOTE: Charging is possible only for the temperature range of
0 to 40˚ C.
4.TURNING LOCATION-TAG™ ON & OFF
To turn Location-Tag™ on, press and hold the Power button until
both indicator lights turn on (approximately 2 seconds). Both
indicator lights will stay on for another two seconds before
providing normal status indication.
To turn Location-Tag™ off, press and hold the Power button until
both indicator lights turn off (approximately 2 seconds). Both
indicator lights will stay off, unless Location-Tag™ is connected to
an AC charger.
NOTE: When you turn on your Location-Tag™, it connects to
the wir
eless network so that it can communicate with the host
application and provide location information and event
notifications to the host application.
6. LOCATION-TAG™ FEATURES
Set or Cancel Geof

ence
, press and hold the Feature button until the
Status indicator has flashed off briefly for the second time
(approximately 4 seconds). ***
While the Geofence is being set, the Status indicator light will flash

een once every second.
Once a Geofence has been set, the Status indicator light will flash

To Cancel a Geofence, press and hold the Feature button until the
Status indicator has flashed off briefl

or the second time
(a
pproximately 4 seconds). ***
The Status indicator light (flashing green once every second) will
return to the normal idle mode.
*** Pressing the Feature button to Set or Cancel a Geofence does NOT generate a
Location Request.
7. POWER INDICATORS
The P
ower indicator light is used to provide you with information
on Location-T
ag
power status.
While the battery is being charged, the Power indicator light will
be on solid amber. **
When the battery is fully charged, with Location-Tag™ still
connected to the

indicator light will flash amber once every 5 seconds. ***
When the battery level drops to the “low power” level,the Power
indicator light will flash amber twice every 5 seconds. ***
** If the battery is really low, you may need to wait for up to 15 seconds for the Power
indicator light to turn on.

8. STATUS INDICATORS
The Status indicator light is used to pr
ovide you with information
on Location-T
ag
™ feature status.
In the normal idle mode, the Status indicator light will flash green
once every 5 seconds.
If Location-Tag™ is not registered or is in the process of

egistering on the wir
eless netw
ork,
the Status indicator light will
flash r
ed once e

ery 5 seconds.
If Location-T
ag
is in a
“deep sleep” mode
,
the Status indicator
light will flash green once every 30 seconds. ***
If location information can not be obtained on a location request,
the Status indicator light will flash red twice, then return to the
normal idle mode.
If a Geof
ence can not be set, the Status indicator light will flash red
twice, then return to the normal idle mode.
*** Some features are activated by the service provider or application provider.
