1.5 Line card options
As of this manual version, the FRM301 supports eight basic line card types
which may be mixed and matched in any slot of the rack.
1. FIB1-10/100 : IEEE 802.3(10Base-T) and IEEE 802.3u(100Base-TX) to fiber.
2. FIB1-1000 : IEEE 802.3ab (1000Base--TX), IEEE 802.3z to fiber.
3. FIB1-1000MS : Converts 1000Base-SX to 1000Base-LX or multi-mode to
single-mode gigabit fiber.
4. FIB1-1000E : 10/100/1000Base Ethernet to gigabit fiber media converter.
5. FIB1-E1 : G.703 E1 (2.048mbps unframed) over fiber media.
6. FIB1-T1 : DS1 (1.544mbps unframed) over fiber media.
7. FIB1-Serial : Provides RS-485/422/232/423/TTL interfaces over fiber.
8. FIB1-Data : V.35, X.21, RS-530, RS-449 (V.36) and RS-232 over fiber media.
1.6 SNMP
When the FRM301 is ordered with an optional SNMP Card, the card is placed
above the power modules. A Control card, which is designed to link all the line cards
to the SNMP agent, is also placed into the rear of the chassis. Management is
accomplished either via local control on the asynchronous RS-232 port with an ASCII
terminal or via Ethernet and any standard SNMP network management software
that supports MIB-II. The SNMP GUI Windows® based program provides an easy
method for the user to operate and monitor the whole system. All line cards are
supported with the datacom, E1/T1 and serial line cards additionally supporting
remote configuration when paired with another FIB1 standalone or FIB2 converter.
