c) Positionyourselfandfreeendofcableasfarawayfrom
battery aspossible – thenconnectNEGATIVE(BLACK)
chargercliptoNEGATIVE(NEG,N,-)post of battery.
d) Donotface battery whenmakingthe finalconnection.
e) When disconnecting charger,alwaysdo so inreverse
sequence ofconnect ingprocedureandbreak firstcon-
nectionwhileasfarawayfrom battery aspractical.
f) A marin e(boat) battery mustberemovedandcharged
onshore.Tochargeitonboardrequiresequipmentspe-
ciallydesignedformarineuse.

• Neverplacethechargerontopofthe battery when
charging.
• Avoidcoveringthecharger.
• Allbatteriesfailsoonerorlater. A battery thatfailsdur-
ingchargingisnormallytakencare of bythechargers
advancedcontrol,but some rareerrorsinthe battery could
stillexist.Don’tleaveany ba ttery d uringcharginguna t-
tended for a longer periodoftime.
• Ifpowerconsumerslike fitted alarmsandnavigationcom-
puters areconnecte dtothebattery,thechargingprocess
takes longer an d maydrainthebattery.
• AlwayscheckthatthechargerhasswitchedtoSTEP 7 
beforeleavingthechargerunattende dan d connectedfor
long periods.IfthechargerhasnotswitchedtoSTEP 7 
within50hours,thisisanindicationofanerror.Disconnect
thecharger.
• Batteriesconsume waterduringuseandch arging.For bat-
terieswherewatercanbeadded,thewaterl e velshould
becheckedregularly.Ifthewaterleve lislowadddistilled
water.
