HOW TO INSTALL:
Walk-Behind
1. Disconnect spark plug wire(s) and ground against
engine. Drain gasoline from tank. Leaking fuel may
cause a re, resulting in personal injury.
2. Turn mower on side. (NOTE: To keep gas and oil
from clogging air lter, make sure air lter side
is up.) Remove center bolt holding old blade and
adapter on crankshaft. Retain bolt and lock washer
for re-use.
3. Remove old blade and adapter assembly from
crankshaft. (Refer to operator’s manual.)
RETAIN ALL HARDWARE FOR USE.
4. Clean old grass from underside of deck.
5. Use care when attaching new blade.
6. Identify the mounting conguration for your mower.
(See illustration panels.) Determine if adapter bracket
is needed. Select the proper adapter washer (same
shape as center hole on old blade) and insert in
center hole of new blade.
7. Select the proper at washer (same size as center
hole on old blade) and place over adapter to prevent
it from dropping out of blade, as shown.
8. Place the blade assembly on the end of the
crankshaft, and secure it with the original blade bolt.
Tighten the bolt securely, per the requirements in
your operator’s manual.
9. Rotate blade to be sure it clears mower
deck assembly.
10. Return mower to mowing position. Reconnect spark
plug wire. Add fresh fuel to engine. Mower is ready
to operate.

4. Grease the end of the blade spindle or coat with light
oil before re-installing the blade to the spindle. (It is
vital that the blade be installed with the correct side
down. See operator’s manual for instructions.)
NOTE: Illustration(s) and hole pattern may vary.
Be sure to use lock washer and bolt you removed
with mower blade, as shown.
For specic installation instructions for your tractor,
see your operator’s manual.
5. Assemble the new blade to the spindle, using
the previously removed hardware. (Refer to the
illustrations above for the proper order of hardware,
and the torque specications.) Inspect all hardware
and replace, if necessary, with original equipment
parts only!
6. Rotate blade(s) to make sure it clears the cutting
deck assembly.
7. If unattached, re-attach the cutting deck to the
machine; reconnect the spark plug wire(s). Start the
engine and test to ensure that the blades engage
and disengage properly. Your machine is now ready
to operate. Check for proper torque periodically once
cutting resumes.
1. Remove ignition key; disconnect spark plug wire(s)
and ground against engine.
2. Remove cutting deck from machine, if needed.
(See operator’s manual for instructions.)

3. Remove nut and then remove the blade from the
blade spindle. (See “Tools Required” for additional
tools that may be required to remove the blade
from the blade spindle.)
CAUTION: Wrap a rag around the cutting edges
of the blade and wear heavy gloves to protect your
hands while replacing the blade(s).
