Trail Shield
Never operate the mower without the
trail shield in place and working. Failure to do so can
result in personal injury.
To replace the trail shield, proceed as follows:
Remove the screw which secures the trail shield to the right 
side of the mower. See Fig. 7-7.
Bow the trail shield inward on each side to release it from 2.

Install the replacement trail shield by following the steps 
above in reverse order.
Battery (Electric Start Models Only)

Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories

NEGATIVE (Black) wire.
Jump Starting
Never jump start a damaged or frozen
battery. Be certain the vehicles do not touch, and
ignitions are off. Do not allow cable clamps to touch.
Connect positive ( +) cable to positive post (+) of your


Charging
Batteries give off an explosive gas
while charging. Charge the battery in a well
ventilated area and keep away from an open flame
or pilot light as on a water heater, space heater,
furnace, clothes dryer or other gas appliances.




Always follow its instructions and heed its warnings.
If your mower has not been put into use for an extended period

before charging battery.
If your battery charger is automatic, charge the battery until the
charger indicates that charging is complete. If the charger is not
automatic, charge for no fewer than eight hours.

