WARNING
Ignition of explosive battery gases can cause severe personal injury. Do not
smoke or cause any spark, arc, or flame while servicing batteries.
WARNING
Accidental starting of the generator set can cause severe personal injury or death
due to electrocution or contact with moving parts. Disconnect the starting battery
cables, before performing service. Batteries emit hydrogen, a highly explosive
gas. Thoroughly ventilate the battery compartment before removing battery
cables. Remove the negative (-) cable (s) first to reduce the risk of arcing.
iii. Disconnect the generator set starting battery (negative [-] lead first).
WARNING
If the cabinet must be opened for any reason, remove AC power to the automatic
transfer switch. If the instructions require otherwise, use extreme caution due to
the danger of shock hazard.
iv. Remove AC power to the automatic transfer switch.
b. Remove the transfer switch cabinet door panel.
c. Remove the hardware securing the busbars to the circuit breaker.
d. Remove the two #8-32 screws securing the circuit breaker to the circuit breaker bracket.
e. Remove the circuit breaker.
f. Use the two #8-32 screws removed in step 4 to install the new circuit breaker.
g. Use the hardware removed in step 3 to reinstall the busbars. Tighten the bolts to 80 in-lb (9
Nm).
h. Restore power.
i. Reconnect the generator set starting battery (negative [-] lead first).
ii. If there is an external battery charger, reconnect the battery charger to its AC power
source.
iii. Restore AC power to the automatic transfer switch.
iv. Move the operation selector switch on the generator set to the Remote (or Auto) position.
