1.3.1 AC Supply and Isolation
NOTICE
Local electrical codes and regulations (for example, BS EN 12601:2010 Reciprocating internal
combustion engine driven generating sets) may require the installation of a disconnect means
for the generator set, either on the generator set or where the generator set conductors enter a
facility.
NOTICE
The AC supply must have the correct over current and earth fault protection according to local
electrical codes and regulations. This equipment must be earthed (grounded).
It is the sole responsibility of the customer to provide AC power conductors for connection to load devices
and the means to isolate the AC input to the terminal box; these must comply with local electrical codes
and regulations. Refer to the wiring diagram supplied with the generator set.
The disconnecting device is not provided as part of the generator set, and Cummins Power Generation
accepts no responsibility for providing the means of isolation.
1.3.2 Utility-To-Generator Set Applications
If the cabinet must be opened for any reason:
1. Move the operation selector switch on the generator set to STOP.
2. Disconnect the battery charger.
3. Disconnect the starting batteries of the generator set or sets (remove the ground [-] lead first).
4. Remove AC power to the automatic transfer switch. If the instructions require otherwise, use extreme
caution due to the danger of shock hazard.
WARNING
AC power within the cabinet and the rear side of the cabinet door presents a shock hazard that
can cause severe personal injury or death. With the breaker in the OFF position, the line side
lugs are still energized.
