Troubleshooting Procedures and Techniques
General Information
This guide describes some typical operating problems, their causes, and some acceptable corrections to those
problems. Unless noted otherwise, the problems listed are those which an operator can diagnose and repair.
WARNING
Performing troubleshooting procedures NOT outlined in this section can result in equipmentdamage or
personal injury or death. Troubleshooting must be performed by trained, experiencedtechnicians. Consult a
Cummins Authorized Repair Location for diagnosis and repair beyond thatwhich is outlined, and for
symptoms not listed in this section. Before beginning anytroubleshooting, refer to General Safety Instructions
in Section i of this manual.
Follow the suggestions below for troubleshooting:
Study the complaint thoroughly before acting
Refer to the engine system diagrams
Do the easiest and most logical things first
Find and correct the cause of the complaint
