Installation Guide

D E F
Step 1
Open the vehicle's tailgate. Remove all items and
trunk floor coverings from the storage compartment (A,B).
Step 2
Remove the rear scuff panel by lifting up and then pulling out (C).
Step 3
Starting on the driver side, remove the two screws securing the
taillight housing (D). Gently pull out on the taillight to locate the
vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors. The connectors will
be similar to those on the custom wiring harness. Separate the
connectors from the taillight housing taking care not to damage
the locking tabs.
Step 4
Remove the inspection cover and unscrew the cargo hook (C).
Pull back on the inner panel to see where the vehicle's wiring
harness exits the vehicle to behind the taillight.
Step 5
To remove the harness, pass through grommet from the body
panel (E) and cut a slit in it. Run the wiring harness end of the
converter harness with the yellow wire through the slit and pass
the connectors through the hole and seat the grommet in the
hole it was removed from. Insert the wiring harness end with
yellow wire between the separated connectors. Make sure the
connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place (F).
Step 6
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector such as
an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame or drill a 3/32"
pilot hole for the provided screw. The area should be free of
rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring
terminal and provided screw.
WARNING: Check for miscellaneous items that may be
hidden behind or under any surface before drilling to avoid
damage and / or personal injury.
Step 7
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle, near the taillight. Adhere
the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
WARNING: Mount converter module inside the vehicle or in a
protected area. Failure to mount the module in a protected area
can cause loss of warranty or product failure, including lamp
malfunction, overheating or potential fire.
Step 8
Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire to the
passenger side behind the removed scuff panel. Repeat steps
2-4 on the passenger side using the wiring harness end with the
green wire.
Step 9
Route the black power wire from the vehicle's battery
as shown on the included CME-PCL-INS sheet.
Step 10
When in use, route the 4-flat to the rear of the vehicle and out
the tailgate. When not in use, roll up and store in a convenient,
out of the way location. Secure any loose wires with the
provided cable ties.
Step 11
Reinstall all items removed during install. Install the
provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
