8. Remove the fastener from the rear bumper
fascia with a Phillips screwdriver. Route the
T-Connector end with the green wire and the 4-flat
down through the opening under the taillight and
rear bumper fascia (F). Under the vehicle route the
green wire along the backside of the rear bumper
to the passenger’s side and up through the
opening under the taillight and rear bumper fascia.
When routing wires be careful to avoid any hot
pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank or any other areas
that might pinch or break the wire.
9. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 on the passenger’s side
using the T-Connector end with the green wire.
Use the provided cable ties to secure any loose
wires.
10. Route the black power wire from the vehicle’s
battery as shown on the CME-PCL-INS sheet
(included).
11. Route the 4-flat wire to the center of the
vehicle. Secure the 4-flat to the center of the
vehicle in a convenient, out of the way location.
Secure any loose wires with the cable ties
provided.
12. Reinstall all items removed during installation.
IMPORTANT:
Battery connection must be fuse protected, 10
amp max. Exceeding the product rating can cause
loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Do not exceed the tow vehicle lamp load rating or
the product load rating, whichever is lower:
Signal Circuits – 3.0 amps per side
Tail / Running Lights – 6.0 amps total
Check the vehicle owner’s manual or contact the
vehicle manufacturer for more information.
1. Access the vehicle’s wiring harness connectors
behind the taillights at positions S3 and S4 as
shown in the Wiring Location Guide.
2. Locate the vehicle’s battery and disconnect the
negative battery terminal (A).
3. Open the rear hatch and remove the vehicle’s
taillight assemblies by removing the Phillips drive
screws holding each in place (B).
4. Remove the taillight assemblies by gently
pulling rearward and out, being careful not to
break the alignment tabs. Behind the taillights you
will see the connectors for the taillight’s wiring
harness (C). Taking care not to damage the
housings, release the lock and separate the
housings (D).
5. On the driver’s side insert the T-Connector end
with the yellow wire between the separated
connectors (E). Make sure the connectors are fully
inserted with locking tabs in place.
WARNING!
Verify miscellaneous items that may be hidden
behind or under any surface before drilling to
avoid damage and/or personal injury.
6. Locate a suitable grounding point near the
connector such as an existing screw with nut in the
vehicle’s frame or drill a 3/32” pilot hole for the
provided screw. Clean the ground area from any
rust, dirt or paint. Secure the white ground wire
using the ring terminal and screw provided.
7. Locate a flat clean surface behind the removed
taillight or on vehicle’s frame that is out of the path
of spray and debris from the rear wheels and road.
Mount the black converter module using the
double-sided tape provided. Failure to mount the
module in a protected area can cause loss of
warranty, product failure including lamp
malfunction, overheating and potential fire.
