Edit Window Overview
Before you get started with the editing process, it is important that you
become familiar with the Edit window. This section provides you with
an overview of some of its key features and functions.
Set the Project’s Aspect Ratio
Before you start working on your project, you should set your movie’s
aspect ratio. The default aspect ratio is 4:3, but if you want your
production to utilize a widescreen TV you may change the aspect ratio
to 16:9, provided that the media clips you have are also in widescreen
format. To modify the aspect ratio for your media, see "Adjust a Video
Clip’s Aspect Ratio" on page 58.
To set the aspect ratio for your project, click > Edit > Aspect Ratio
> 4:3 or 16:9. The preview window will change according to the aspect
ratio you have chosen.
Note: It is important that you set the aspect ratio of your movie before you
start adding clips to the timeline/storyboard. You will need to restart your
project if you change the aspect ratio of your project later.
