PLUG & OUTLET GUIDE
NEMA – National Electrical Manufactures Association
NEMA connectors are AC power plugs and receptacles used for utility power in North America and other countries
that use the standards set by the U.S. National Electrical Manufacturers Association. Some types are found in nearly all
buildings in the United States. Similar and interchangeable connectors are used in Canada, Mexico, and other countries
using the same type of receptacle, although there are some exceptions. NEMA wiring devices are made in current
ratings from 15 to 60 amperes, and electrical potential (voltage) ratings from 125 to 600 volts.
NEMA Single Phase: 5-15P, 5-20P, L5-20P, L5-30P, L6-20P, L6-30P
IEC – International Electrotechnical Commission
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a non-profit, non-governmental international standards
organization that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies
– collectively known as “electrotechnology”. IEC standards cover a vast range of technologies from power generation,
transmission and distribution to home appliances and office equipment, semiconductors, fibre optics, batteries, solar
energy, nanotechnology and marine energy as well as many others.
IEC Single Phase: IEC 320-C14, C20
