Setting Up a Partnership
The first time you connect your DOT 400 to your desktop PC,
Microsoft ActiveSync asks whether you will set up a partnership.
Once the partnership is set up, you can synchronize data with your
DOT 400. Though your DOT 400 can have partnerships with two
desktop PCs, E-mail messages can be synchronized with only one
desktop PC.
To set up a partnership:
1. Place your DOT 400 on the docking cradle that is connected to your
desktop PC. At the desktop PC screen, the New Partnership Wizard
will automatically start, asking you whether you will set up a
partnership. Select Yes, and then click Next.
2. Enter the device name (for instance: Windows CE1, Windows CE 32,
etc.) and click Next.
3. If your DOT 400 already has a partnership with another desktop PC,
but you no longer want to use it, select Yes, I want to
synchronize with only this computer in the Select Number of
Partnerships dialog box. The partnership settings with other desktop
PC will be removed from your device, and the former desktop PC will
no longer be recognized by this device. Click Next.
4. The synchronization settings window appears. To synchronize a
particular type of information, check the particular box and click
Next.
