CAUTION
Frequent accumulation of liquids in the spill tray indicates a leak or
aspiration problem with the instrument. If you observe such accumulation, contact
Dako’s Technical Service Group.
1. Carefully pull the spill tray out from the bottom of the instrument for inspection.
2. Completely remove the tray.
3. If any liquid has collected in the spill tray, use dry gauze to absorb it.
4. Wipe with gauze dampened with deionized water or 1X Wash Solution to clean the tray. You
may use a 10% bleach solution if the plastic has been stained by dye.
Monthly Routine Maintenance
Monthly Routine Maintenance includes cleaning bulk fluid bottles.
Clean the Bulk Fluid Bottles
Keep all bulk fluid bottles clean to perform properly. Dako Wash Solution does not contain
preservatives. If the cleanliness of these bottles is not maintained, contaminants may grow in the
lines and affect the quality of the staining results. All bulk fluid bottles should be washed according
to good laboratory practices each time before they are filled with fresh reagent. Dako recommends
rinsing them with alcohol to remove any potential contaminants.
Note: Do not use bleach in or on Artisan™ Link, except for spill tray. Bleach may
react with other chemicals and create toxic fumes.
Flush Bulk Liquid Lines with Alcohol
Materials needed: bulk liquid bottle with 95% Ethanol (70% Ethanol optional)
Flushing the bulk liquid line clears accumulated deposits from the lines and minimizes
contamination.
1. Connect the bulk liquid bottle filled with 95% Ethanol (70% Ethanol optional) to assigned
position.
2. Prime assigned position a minimum of three times.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 for remaining bottle positions by reusing the bottle at the next bottle
position.
4. Refill the remaining cleaned bottles with the appropriate bulk liquid and replace them on the
Artisan™ Link.
5. Click the Prime All button.
6. Repeat step 5 five times.
Annual Preventative Maintenance
Annual maintenance must be performed by a trained Dako technician. Contact your local Dako
representative for further information.
