Aristocraft/Crest #CRE-55492 receiver installation using track power. Motor power for notch settings and
Aristocraft relay board (ART-5490) for HORN, BELL, Full RPM, Main Sounds ON / OFF
DC power output.
This is the rectified power from the sound system. When
operating on DC track power, since the polarity is
unknown, the input power must be connected to J1 (AC)
input power. If nothing else is connected to the RED lead,
make sure it is properly insulated to prevent a short.
The "+" power is not intended to operate equipment,
rather it is an input for the sound system. In this
configuration however, it is possible to use this as an
output providing the item connected does not draw very
much power. A few 100 milliampere's max.
If DC power is required for other, higher current items,
use a separate bridge rectifier to obtain the DC
necessary.

Connect to receiver motor lead power. Then connect the motor leads to pins 2 (black) and
3 (white) of J3. If using higher than 12 volts track power, connect the optional resistor as
shown for better notch control.

In an Aristocraft locomotive ready-equipped for radio installation, wires have to be
connected from the sound card to the motor leads as shown. The receiver will be already
connected to the motor brushes by plugging the reciever board into the engine.
Optional 1k ohm resistor shown to reduce notch (RPM)
sound achieved from higher track voltage (as in G
gauge equipment). This yields a better "speed set" with
the speed set potentiometer.
M
Track Input Power.
Input voltage of 7 to 24 volts DC or AC. Absoulute
maximum input is 35 volts DC!
Connect to the track input from each truck. If this is an
Aristocraft receiver in a non-equipped plug in, then
connect to the same wires as the receiver board (wire
#1 & #7, blue & yellow)
Connections as shown:
Sound Function Relay/Keypad
S1 - Horn ............................. A
S2 - Bell ............................... C
S3 - Force Notch 8 ............... D
S4 - Main sounds off ............ E
you may elect to connect all, some, or none.

Battery Power Operators:
Track Input Power, J1, does not connect to anything in
this type of installation!
J2 would then be the DC power input and not the
output as labeled. Remember to keep the polarity
correct. Plus to Plus (+) and Minus to Minus (-)! Input
voltage of 7 to 24 volts DC or AC. Absolute maximum
input is 35 volts DC! Your receiver battery power may
be the same power as the sound system and amplifier
(if present). If you have a different battery for the
receiver and sound system, then you should connect
the "-" of each battery system together.
If you are using item 672, 22 watt amplifier, then
connect the DC power to it as well.
