Technical Specifications

When DampRid's white pellets are exposed to the air, they absorb excess
moisture and dissolve into a brine (salt solution). They won't dry the air to a
level that damages plants, animals or clothing. The formula is non-toxic, septic
safe and friendly to the environment. It's safe for home, family and pets and is
easy to dispose of after use.
DampRid® Moisture Absorbers work in three phases:
How DampRid® Works
Phase 1:
Excess moisture is absorbed into the white calcium chloride
crystals. The white crystals begin to harden and form a solid mass.
They have not yet dissolved. You may see liquid dripping into the
bottom chamber of the product at this stage.
Phase 2:
Excess moisture will most likely be dripping into the bottom of the
product. Approximately 1/2 to 3/4 of the white crystals will have
dissolved.
Phase 3:
All of the white crystals will have dissolved and the bottom of the
product will be full of liquid. You will see a small line of colored
freshener beads in the top chamber of our DampRid fragrance
products
DampRid® only absorbs excess moisture from the air if placed in an area where humidity is
not a problem, the crystals will not begin to harden and dissolve. The DampRid® crystals remain
viable and continue to work, but only as needed.
DampRid® crystals will initially harden as part of the natural moisture absorption process.
Some consumers incorrectly assume the product is defective when they see the hardened
crystals.
If DampRid® turns to liquid form in a matter of days, this signals significant humidity and may
indicate a serious moisture problem that should be looked into by a professional contractor or
inspector.
DampRid® crystals may turn color often brownish, orange, reddish, pinkish from trace
amounts of minerals in them. This discoloration does not affect performance, and can be rinsed off
with water or left until the crystals have dissolved away entirely.
