Surface Preparation & Application
1. Surface must be clean, dry and free of dirt, oil and loose material. De-gloss surface if necessary for
best adhesion.
2. Surface, wood filler and air temperature should be above 40°F.
3. If staining, test wood filler with desired stain on scrap wood before filling to ensure desired stain
color.
4. Stir product with putty knife before application.
5. Apply wood filler into area to be filled. Press firmly into place using a putty knife or tool.
6. Avoid overspreading filler on surrounding surfaces. Overfill slightly to allow for sanding and
settling. Most repairs require just one fill. Larger and deeper holes may require more than one
application.
7. For larger and deeper holes, apply thin layers to build up thick sections. Allow wood filler to dry
before applying next layer.
8. Allow to dry thoroughly before sanding: approximately 2 to 6 hours for shallow fills up to 1/8” and
36 hours for deeper fills 1/4” and over. Sand with medium sandpaper.
9. May be painted with latex-based paint immediately after sanding, or after 12 hours if using an oil-
based paint.
10. Exterior applications must be coated with latex or oil-based paint or solid color stain.
11. If wood is to be stained, stain before filling with wood filler. Then use stain to develop desired final
finish.
12. Reseal container tightly with lid.
13. Keep from freezing.
