These manuals are provided in Portable Document Format (PDF) for viewing and printing from the website listed on the back cover of this manual. Additionally, printed manuals can be ordered from your dealer/distributor.
With the SurroundScan™ scan pattern and advanced FirstStrike™ decoding software, the Magellan® 8500Xt can read most hardto-read codes quickly and without excess orientation. Produce RailTM Weighing Items The L-shaped All-Weighs™ platter allows you to place items anywhere on its surface, including leaning against its vertical section, to be weighed accurately. The raised Produce RailTM also provides a convenient way to ensure that items do not rest on the counter or other non-weighing surfaces.
LED INDICATION DURATION Program Mode Indication Green LED - Continuous flashing Sleep Mode Indication Green LED flashes slowly. Host Disabled Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) Warning (Error Mode) FRU Indication COMMENT Indicates the scanner is in Label Programming Mode. Cycle power to exit Programming Mode. The scanner motor and/or laser have automatically switched off and the unit has entered Sleep Mode due to extended inactivity. Scanner (Green) LED 1-second Host has disabled scanning.

Volume/Tone Push Button The Volume/Tone Push Button also performs multiple functions depending upon the duration of time it is pressed: Table 4. Volume/Tone Push Button Functions PRESS DURATION FUNCTION COMMENT Wakes scanner from Sleep Mode Alternatively, the scanner can be awakened by: - Moving an object through the scan zone. - A weight change on the scale. - Scanning with an attached auxiliary scanner. Increments volume Press the push button momentarily to increase speaker volume.
Manual EAS Deactivation Push Button1 Using the programming bar codes contained in the Product Reference Guide (PRG) the button can be configured to operate always, or only function when the scanner is enabled. PRESS DURATION Momentarya 3 Seconds upon EAS error FUNCTION COMMENT Manually initiates EAS deactivation Center the item with the EAS tag in the scanning area and push the button.
EAS Mode Programming Instructions The barcodes below control the mode of operation for interfacing with the Sensormatic® AMB-9010EAS controller (EAS-equipped units only). To select one of the two modes, simply scan the desired bar code from this page while obscuring the other (unused) bar code by either folding the page or covering it with a blank piece of paper. You will not need to scan a "Switch" bar code or perform other steps to configure the scanner's EAS mode.

Appendix B — Laser Safety International Caution Statements Class I English This scanner is certified in the U.S. to conform to the requirements of DHHS/CDRH 21CFR Subchapter J and to the requirements of IEC60825-1. Class I and Class IIa products are not considered to be hazardous. The scanner contains internally a Visible Laser Diode (VLD) whose emissions do not exceed the maximum limits as set forth in the above regulations.
