Target Markets and Applications
According to VDC, the linear imager market is expected to grow at a much higher pace than laser scanners. In terms of
global unit volumes, linear imagers have already surpassed lasers although revenues continue to lag due to the lower
price point for linear imagers. Today end users see little technical reason to buy laser scanners versus imagers. In fact,
linear imagers offer advantages over lasers in important specifications like reading capability and durability.
