So you’re checking out these D Ring Tie-Down Anchors. (Part#: PF23, PFK23 or PF22, PFK22)

What an awesome choice because these are super sturdy and provide you with many versatile

options for anchoring logistic tie down straps in your trailer, flatbed or pickup.

Um… the installation part. That’s a project you may or may not be cool with (depending on

whether you’re a Pro or Pro-to-be at all this cargo stuff.) No worries – at DC Cargo Mall we

understand our customers and are here for you to help with whatever we can. On that note, we

hereby present to you a clear and beautifully photographed installation guide, submitted by our

valued customer Bob, a retired engineer. Bob used a 3” hole saw to cleverly install his D Ring

tie down anchor. Check out his instructions for a clean and easy way to install your D ring.

NOTE: The following pictures, except the last one, were made using a piece of 1"x4" lumber for ease of demonstrating this method. The pine board is clamped to a piece of redwood to avoid drilling into the table top with the various drill bits and pilot bit in the hole saw. Desired center Determine the location of the desired center of the recessed portion of the tie down after installation. In this example, the long direction of the recessed portion is up and down.

Drill two 1/4" holes at the marked locations. Suggested that the holes be drilled as 1/8" holes first and then enlarged to 1/4" to minimize drifting of the bit from the marked locations.

Using a 3" hole saw, cut only HALF way through the wood using one of the 1/4" holes. This way you don't lose the marking of the second hole.

Move to the second 1/4" hole and cut all the way through the board in which the anchor is being installed. Position the hole saw in the remainder of the half cut through slot in the wood and cut the rest of the way through.

This is a view from below of D ring tie down after installation in the floor of a cargo truck. The wood is 7/8" mahogany. Note use of 3/8" fender washers and 3/8" lock washers on 3/8" carriage bolts. If using the PFK23, use the included lock plate instead of the fender washers.
