Features include High Capacity,Variable Speed Blower, Commercial Style dishwasher-safe filters, Easyto-Clean inside liner, and Illuminating Halogen Lighting, all packaged in a stylish, welded-seam exterior. Before proceeding with installation, please read this installation guide and observe all safety precautions and warnings.
Safety Practices & Precautions WARNING: To reduce the risk of a range top grease fire: A) Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oil slowly on low or medium settings. B) Always turn hood “ON” when cooking at high heat or when cooking flaming foods. C) Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter. D) Use proper pan size.
Planning The Installation BACKDRAFT DAMPER: We recommend that a backdraft damper be used in all Vent Hood installations. Cold weather installations necessitate the use of a backdraft damper to minimize the flow of cold air into the room. A nonmetallic thermal break should also be installed to minimize conduction of outside temperatures through the ductwork. Locate the thermal break as close as possible to where the ducting enters the heated portion of the house.

Vent Hood Installation (with soffit) SITE PREPARATION: This DCS Professional Vent Hood has been designed to accommodate installation into a 1) soffit structure (ceiling mount), or, for sites without a soffit structure. 2) directly into the wall through holes provided in the rear panel of the vent hood (wall mount). When mounting the hood to a soffit, it is recommended to also utilize the rear panel holes to gain additional stability and minimize any vibration noise.
Vent Hood Installation (with soffit) INSTALL VENT HOOD INTO SOFFIT: At this point in the installation process, the inner liner should be removed from the Hood and set aside (see-Pgs 5 & 6).With the liner set aside, there is clear access to the Soffit mounting holes and wall mounting holes in the rear panel of the unit. Once the soffit framing has been completed, place assembled vent hood (hood, rough-in kit, and ventilator) into place and secure hood to the soffit frame with 6 wood screws.
Vent Hood Installation (without soffit) SITE PREPARATION: In cases where the installation site does not have a soffit structure, the Vent Hood assembly may be secured directly to the wall from the rear of the unit. NOTE- When installing the vent hood directly to the rear wall, an adequate structural wall support (studs) must exist to secure the unit. NOTE- The DCS Duct Cover should be ordered and installed when installing the vent hood in a site without a soffit.
Finishing The Installation TO FINISH THE INSTALLATION: FIG.04 REAR VIEW of VENT HOOD (48" Model Shown) Once the ventilation hood has been mounted in place it will be necessary to install the electrical service. All electrical work should be done by a qualified electrician and must conform to all local standards. Refer to the wiring diagrams on Pgs. 14-15, for proper hook-up and grounding.
Duct Information GENERAL: 10" - When planning the path for ducting to the outside, keep in mind the following guidelines: - Minimize use of elbows and transitions in ductwork as to maximize air flow to outside of building. An efficient airflow path contributes to the overall efficiency of the Vent Hood. - DCS recommends the use of smooth wall ducting, not flexible ductwork.

Service HOW TO OBTAIN SERVICE: Before you call for service: 1) Is the circuit breaker tripped or the fuse blown? 2) Is there a power outage in the area? For warranty service, contact your local DCS authorized service agency. Provide him with the Model Number, Serial Number, and date of installation, and a brief description of the problem.
Warranty LENGTH OF WARRANTY: One (1) Year Full parts and Labor Covers the entire product Five (5) Year Limited warranty covering the switches and motor. DCS WILL PAY FOR All repair labor and parts found to be defective due to materials or workmanship for one full year “IN HOME” warranty during the first year of ownership. This does not apply if the unit was subjected to other than normal household use. Service must be provided by Authorized Factory Agent during normal working hours.

Table des matières INTRODUCTION : Les modèles d’hotte à évacuation DCS ont été conçus pour en faire un appareil domestique des plus pratiques. Cette hotte élégante à l’extérieur soudé en continu possède les caractéristiques suivantes : haute capacité, ventilateur à vitesse variable, filtres commerciaux lavables en lave-vaisselle, revêtement intérieur facile à nettoyer et éclairage halogène.
Mesures de sécurité et de précaution AVERTISSEMENT- Pour réduire les risques de feu de graisse dans une cuisinière : A) Ne laissez jamais les plaques de cuisson sur réglage élevé sans surveillance. L’ébullition peut provoquer des débordements graisseux pleins de fumée pouvant prendre feu. Chauffez l’huile lentement, à feu doux ou moyen. B) Allumez toujours la hotte lorsque vous cuisinez à feu vif ou avec des aliments flambants. C) Nettoyez les ventilateurs fréquemment.
Planification de l’installation REGISTRE ANTIREFOULEMENT: Nous recommandons l’utilisation d’un registre antirefoulement dans toutes les installations de hotte à évacuation. Les installations dans des climats froids nécessitent l’utilisation d’un registre antirefoulement pour minimiser le flot d’air froid dans la pièce. Un isolant thermique non métallique doit aussi être installé pour réduire la conduction des températures extérieures à travers le système de conduits.

Installation de la hotte (avec soffite) PREPARATION DU SITE: Cette hotte professionnelle DCS a été conçue pour permettre une installation 1) dans un soffite (montage au plafond) ou un site sans soffite. 2) directement dans le mur à l’aide des trous pratiqués sur le panneau arrière de la hotte (montage au mur). Pour une fixation au soffite, nous recommandons d’utiliser aussi les trous du panneau arrière pour obtenir une plus grande stabilité et minimiser les bruits de vibration.
Installation de la hotte (avec soffite) INSTALLATION DE LA HOTTE DANS LE SOFFITE: À cette étape-ci de l’installation, le revêtement intérieur doit être retiré de la hotte et mis de côté (voir pages 5 et 6). À présent, l’accès aux trous de montage du soffite et aux trous de fixation au mur, situés au panneau arrière de l’appareil, est libre.
Installation de la hotte (sans soffite) PREPARATION DU SITE: Si l’emplacement de l’installation ne comporte pas de soffite, la hotte peut être fixée directement au mur par l’arrière. NOTE- Pour installer la hotte directement au mur du fond, un support mural (poteau) doit être présent pour permettre de fixer solidement l’appareil. NOTE- Commandez et installez un couvre-conduit si vous installez la hotte dans un site sans soffite. DCS offre des couvre-conduits de 15 et 30 cm (6” et 12”) de haut.
Phase finale de l'installation POUR TERMINER L’INSTALLATION: FIG. 04 VUE ARRIÈRE DE LA HOTTE (modèle 48”) Une fois la hotte mise en place, il faut effectuer l’installation électrique. Celle-ci doit être confiée à un électricien qualifié et respecter les normes en vigueur. Reportez-vous aux schémas de câblage aux pages 14 à 15 pour savoir comment entreprendre un branchement et une mise à la terre correctes.
Informations sur les conduits GENERALITES: 10" - Lorsque vous planifiez la disposition des conduites menant vers l’extérieur, tenez compte des consignes suivantes : - Minimisez l’emploi de coudes et de transitions afin de maximiser le débit d'air vers l’extérieur du bâtiment. Une voie de flux d'air efficiente contribue à l’efficacité globale de la hotte. - DCS recommande l’utilisation de conduits muraux plutôt que de conduits flexibles.
