Loading an Original Document
You can use the ADF or the document glass to load an original document for faxing. Using the ADF, you can load up to 35 sheets of 75 g/m2 (20 lb) paper at a
time. Using the document glass, you can load one sheet at a time.
To fax a document using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):
1. Place the document(s) face up on the ADF with the top edge of the documents in first. Then adjust the document guides to the correct document size.
2. Adjust the document resolution, referring to "Adjusting the Document Resolution".
To fax a document from the document glass:
1. Open the document cover.
2. Place the document face down on the document glass and align it with the registration guide on the top left corner of the glass.
3. Adjust the document resolution, referring to "Adjusting the Document Resolution".
4. Close the document cover.
Adjusting the Document Resolution
Use the Document Resolution setting to improve the output quality of the original or if scanning photographic materials.
NOTE: To get the best scan quality, especially for gray scale images, use the document glass instead of the ADF.
NOTE: Ensure that no document is in the ADF. If any document is detected in the ADF, it takes priority over the document on the document glass.
