Server
To provision a bare metal server, add a server component in the template builder.
After selecting Server on the template builder page, perform the following actions:
1. On the Server Component window, from the Component Name drop-down list, select a Server or
Server (O/S Installation Only).
2. In the # of Instances, box, enter the number of the server instances that you want to add.
3. Under Related Components, select the components that you want to map with the server

together in a template, see Component Combinations in Templates

5. To import an existing server configuration and use it for the server component settings, click Import
Configuration from Reference Server. On the Select Reference Server page, select the server from
which you want to import the settings, and click Select.
NOTE: Henceforth, ASM does not only import basic setting from reference server but also
import all the BIOS setting and advance RAID configuration from the reference server and
allow you to edit the configuration
For BIOS setting, you need some dependancy setting.Certain BIOS setting you select, may
invalidate other BIOS setting. you need to check the dependency setting because those
dependency check is not performed by ASM. It’s upto you to decide whether to change the
imported setting or not. For changing some setting, you need to go to BIOS of the server to
ensure valid configuration. .
6. To import configuration from a server that is part of an existing templates, click Import from Existing
Template. On the Select Component page, select the server under a template, and click Select.
7. The Upload Server Configuration XML File feature enables you to upload configuration XML file to
ASM .
NOTE: You can edit any of the settings visible in the template, but many settings are hidden.
For example there are only ten of the many BIOS settings that you can see and edit using
template but All BIOS settings can be configured so if you want to edit any of those settings
that we don’t get to see through template, you should edit them prior to importing or
uploading the file.
NOTE: The above note is applicable for Import Configuration from Reference Server, Import
from Existing Template, Select Reference Server.
