NOTE: For BIOS setting, you need some dependancy setting.Certain BIOS setting you select,
may invalidate other BIOS setting. you need to check the dependency setting because those
dependency check is not performed by ASM. It’s upto you to decide whether to change the
imported setting or not. For changing the setting, you need to go to BIOS of the server to
ensure valid configuration.
You can get to know about whether there is any dependency setting or not with the help of
tool tip. If you put cursor on tool tip, it gives message This setting has other setting for which it
is dependent.
Importing from existing template
The Importing From Existing Template feature enables you to import configuration from a server which
is already there in an existing templates. You can edit the settings after importing the configuration from
existing template.
To import a configuration from a server which is already part of an existing template, perform the
following stasks:
1. On the Server Component Settings page, click Import from Existing Template.
2. On the Select Component page, select a server under a template to import the configuration.
3. Click Select.
It will import the configuration from existing template.
Uploading Server Configuration Profile
The Upload Server Configuration Profile feature enables you to upload configuration XML file to ASM .
To upload a configuration XML file to ASM , perform the following tasks:
1. Click Upload Server Configuration Profile, Upload Server Configuration Profile window is
displayed .
2. On the Upload Server Configuration Profile window, click Browse.
3. Select a file what you want to upload, click Open.
4. Click Continue on Upload Server Configuration Profile window.
5. After performing all the above steps click Save.
It will enable uploading applicable setting to the selected template in ASM.
NOTE: If you can not find any required configuration after uploading server configuration XML file,
that you can configure from Server Component setting page and even you can edit the uploaded
setting as per your requirement.
NOTE: If no adjustments are made to the network settings, ASM pass through all the settings from
the .config xml for the network adapters. But if you modifie any of the network settings, including
simply adding a VLAN or Network, ASM overwrite the entire networking section from the config.xml
file.
Cluster
In ASM, adding a Cluster component to a template refers to creating a cluster inside a VMware vCenter
and SCVMM.
