Administrator Guide

bgp default local-preference value
value: the range is from 0 to 4294967295.
The default is 100.
To view the BGP configuration, use the show config command in CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode or the show running-
config bgp command in EXEC Privilege mode.
A more flexible method for manipulating the LOCAL_PREF attribute value is to use a route map.
1. Enter the ROUTE-MAP mode and assign a name to a route map.
CONFIGURATION mode
route-map map-name [permit | deny] [sequence-number]
2. Change LOCAL_PREF value for routes meeting the criteria of this route map.
CONFIG-ROUTE-MAP mode
set local-preference value
3. Return to CONFIGURATION mode.
CONFIG-ROUTE-MAP mode
exit
4. Enter ROUTER BGP mode.
CONFIGURATION mode
router bgp as-number
5. Apply the route map to the neighbor or peer group’s incoming or outgoing routes.
CONFIG-ROUTER-BGP mode
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} route-map map-name {in | out}
To view the BGP configuration, use the show config command in CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode. To view a route map
configuration, use the show route-map command in EXEC Privilege mode.
Configuring the local System or a Different System to be
the Next Hop for BGP-Learned Routes
You can configure the local router or a different router as the next hop for BGP-learned routes.
To change how the NEXT_HOP attribute is used, enter the first command. To view the BGP configuration, use the show config
command in CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode or the show running-config bgp command in EXEC Privilege mode.
You can also use route maps to change this and other BGP attributes. For example, you can include the second command in a route map
to specify the next hop address.
Disable next hop processing and configure the router (route reflector) as the next hop for a BGP neighbor.
CONFIG-ROUTER-BGP mode
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} next-hop-self [all]
If you do not use the all keyword, the next hop of only eBGP-learned routes is updated by the route reflector. If you use the all
keyword, the next hop of both eBGP- and iBGP-learned routes are updated by the route reflector.
Sets the next hop address.
CONFIG-ROUTE-MAP mode
set next-hop ip-address
If the set next-hop command is applied on the out-bound interface using a route map, it takes precedence over the neighbor
next-hop-self command.
Changing the WEIGHT Attribute
To change how the WEIGHT attribute is used, enter the first command. You can also use route maps to change this and other BGP
attributes. For example, you can include the second command in a route map to specify the next hop address.
Assign a weight to the neighbor connection.
