232 Using the CMC Web Interface
Server Cloning
The server cloning feature allows the user to apply all cloneable BIOS settings
from a specified server to one or more servers. Cloneable BIOS settings are
those BIOS settings, which can be modified and are intended to be replicated
across servers.
The server cloning feature supports iDRAC6 and iDRAC7 Servers. Earlier
generation iDRAC Servers are listed, but are greyed out on the main page,
and are not enabled to use this feature.
To use the server cloning feature:
iDRAC must have the minimum version that is required. iDRAC6 servers
require a minimum version of 3.2 and iDRAC7 servers require version
1.0.0.
Server must have supported generation of iDRAC.
Server must be powered on.
You can configure BIOS settings using the server cloning feature only through
the CMC Web Interface. The BIOS Profiles page enables you to perform this
operation.
To access the Bios Profiles page, click Server Overview Setup Profiles.
The source and target servers need not belong to the same generation. Only
the available cloneable settings are applied from one server profile to other
servers.
Capture Profile
Before cloning the BIOS properties of a server, you must first capture the
properties to a Stored Profile.
When you create a Stored Profile, you provide a name and optional
description for each profile. You can save a maximum of 16 Stored Profiles on
the CMC non-volatile extended storage media.
Removal or disabling of non-volatile extended storage media prevents access
to Stored Profiles, and disables the Server Cloning feature.
