SMI-S
SMI-S Provider
The SMI-S Provider is included with the Data Collector. You can configure SMI-S during initial Data Collector installation or post-
installation by modifying the Data Collector properties. When SMI-S is enabled and configured, the Data Collector automatically installs and
manages the SMI-S Provider; no additional installation is required.
NOTE: The Storage Manager Data Collector must be installed in a Microsoft Windows environment. SMI-S is not
supported on a Virtual Appliance.
Supported Management Solutions
Storage Manager SMI-S is compatible with the following combinations of Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)
and Microsoft Server versions.
• SCVMM 2012 SP1 running on Windows Server 2012
• SCVMM 2012 R2 running on Windows Server 2012
• SCVMM 2012 R2 running on Windows Server 2012 R2
• SCVMM 2016 R2 running on Windows Server 2016
