NOTE: When a volume is preallocated, the Storage Center allocates all of the space on the volume t>o the server.
The Free Space of the volume is 0 MB and the Used/Active Space of the volume is the equal to the size of volume
on Storage Center. To keep the volume preallocated when it is formatted on the server, the SCSI UNMAP feature
must be disable on the server.

Create Multiple Volumes Simultaneously and Map Them to a Server
If a server requires additional storage and you do not want to use existing volumes, you can create and map multiple volumes to
the server in a single operation.
Steps
1. If the Storage Manager Client is connected to a Data Collector, select a Storage Center from the Storage view.
2. Click the Storage tab.
3. Select the server to which to map new volumes in the Storage tab navigation pane.
4. In the right pane, click Create Multiple Volumes. The Create Multiple Volumes dialog box opens.
5. In the Volume Count field, type the number of volumes to create.
6. Type a name for the volume in the Name field.
7. Select a unit of storage from the drop-down menu and enter the size for the volume in the Size field.
The storage units are Bytes, KB, MB, GB, or TB.
8. In the Volume Folder pane, select the parent folder for the volume.
9. (Optional) Configure the remaining volume attributes as needed.
● Snapshot Profiles—Click Change to select snapshot profiles for the volume.
● Server—Click Change to select a server to which to map the volume.
● Advanced Mapping—Click Advanced Mapping to configure LUN settings, restrict mapping paths, configure
multipathing, or present the volume as read-only.
● Read Cache—Clear the Enabled checkbox to disable read cache on the volume. Read Cache is enabled by default.
● Write Cache—Clear the Enabled checkbox to disable write cache on the volume. Write Cache is enabled by default.
● Data Reduction Profile—Select Compression or Deduplication with Compression as the data reduction profile for
the volume. None is selected by default.
● Chargeback Department—If Chargeback is enabled, click Change to select the department to charge for storage
costs associated with the volume by clicking Change.
● Storage Profile—Select the storage profile to assign to the volume. Selecting the Recommended (All Tiers) storage
profile allows the volume to take full advantage of data progression.
● Storage Type—Select the storage type to assign to the volume.
● Volume QoS Profile—Click Change to select the volume QoS profile to assign to the volume.
● Group QoS Profile—Click Change to select the group QoS profile to assign to the volume.
● Create as Replication—Select this checkbox to create a replication volume.
● Create as Live Volume—Select this checkbox to create a Live Volume.
● Preallocate Storage—Select this checkbox to allocate storage to the volume before the volume is mapped to the
server.

10. Click OK.
The Create Multiple Volumes dialog box appears and displays the newly created volume.
11. Use the Create Multiple Volumes dialog box to create additional volumes.
● To add a volume based on a previous volume, select the volume from the list and click Clone Selected Volume.
● To manually define another volume, click Add Volumes.
