User's Manual
Password Management
From the Password Management window, an administrator can create or change all of the
security passwords on your system:
System (also known as Pre-Windows)*
Administrator*
Hard Drive*
ControlVault
Windows
TPM Owner
Self-Encrypting Drive
NOTES:
Only those passwords that are applicable to the current platform configuration will be
displayed; so this window will change based on the system configuration and status.
Those passwords with an * next to them above are BIOS passwords and can also be
changed through the system BIOS.
The BIOS-level passwords cannot be created or changed if the BIOS administrator has
denied password changes.
Clicking the setup link for a self-encrypting drive launches the Self-Encrypting Drive setup
wizard; clicking manage lets a user to change one or more Self-Encrypting Drive
passwords.
Only one drive password – Hard Drive (BIOS) or Self-Encrypting Drive - can be set up at a
time. If one of these is set, the other will be unavailable.
