Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that are shipped with your product.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
Steps
1. Locate the expansion card connector on the riser.
2. Holding the card by its edges, position the card so that the card edge connector aligns with the
connector on the expansion card riser.
3. Insert the card edge connector into the expansion card connector until the card is firmly seated.
NOTE: Ensure that the expansion card is properly seated along the chassis, so that expansion
card latch can be closed.
4. If applicable, connect the cables to the expansion card.
5. Install the expansion card riser on the system board.
