Figure 73. Installing the system board
Next steps
1. Install the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
NOTE:
The TPM plug-in module is attached to the system board and cannot be removed. A replacement TPM plug-in
module is provided for all system board replacements, where a TPM plug-in module was installed.
2. Replace the following:
a. IDSDM module card
b. All expansion card risers
c. Processors and heat sink modules
d. Processors and memory blanks (if applicable)
e. Memory modules and memory module blanks
f. Network daughter card
g. Cooling fan assembly
h. Air shroud
i. Power supply unit(s)
3. Reconnect all cables to the system board.
NOTE:
Ensure that the cables inside the system are routed along the chassis wall and secured using the cable securing
bracket.
4. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system on page 57.
5. Import your new or existing iDRAC Enterprise license. For more information, see Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller
User's Guide, at Dell.com/esmmanuals.
6. Ensure that you:
a. Restore the Service Tag.
b. If the Service Tag is not backed up in the backup flash device, enter the Service Tag manually.
c. Update the BIOS and iDRAC versions.
d. Re-enable the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
Trusted Platform Module
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a dedicated microprocessor designed to secure hardware by integrating cryptographic keys
into devices. Software can use a Trusted Platform Module to authenticate hardware devices. Because each TPM chip has a
unique and secret RSA key which is embedded during the manufacture of the TPM, and it is capable of performing platform
authentication operation.
CAUTION:
Do not attempt to remove the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) from the system board. After the TPM
is installed, it is cryptographically bound to that specific system board. Any attempt to remove an installed TPM
breaks the cryptographic binding, and it cannot be re-installed or installed on another system board.
