3.7.6 Oracle export and import facilities
These facilities include the original Export and Import, Data Pump Export and Import, and the Full
Transportable Export and Import features as mentioned in section 3.7.5.
• Full Transportable Export/Import is the preferred choice when migrating into an Oracle 12c database.
• For other Oracle versions, Data Pump Export and Import (introduced in 10g) is preferred over the
original Export and Import feature because Data Pump offers faster speed and better efficiency in
processing large amount of data.
• Use the original Export and Import feature only when the first two choices are not possible. See
Oracle Database Utilities for more information.
• For administrators who prefer a graphical interface with a step-by-step guide, Oracle SQL Developer
offers an easy-to-follow Data Pump Export and Import Wizard.
