Create NAS Container Wizard
The Create NAS Container wizard guides you through the process of creating a NAS container. This wizard includes the following
screens:
Container Name
Data Reduction
Space Settings
Create Share
Summary
NOTE: The process for creating a NAS thin clone is similar, but with the following exceptions:
The Name eld is populated with a default container name.
Data reduction cannot be congured.
The size of a thin clone is inherited from its parent container. You cannot modify the size while the clone is being created,
but you can change it later with the Modify settings option.
A thin clone is fully thin provisioned while it is being created. You can change the minimum reserve later with the Modify
settings option.
The in-use space limit of a thin clone is inherited from its parent container. You cannot modify the limit while the clone is
being created, but you can change it later with the
Modify settings option.

Field Description Shortcut
Name Container name from 1 to 229 characters plus underscores. The name must begin
with a letter or underscore, and cannot include a space or begin with a number.

Enable data reduction Enabling data reduction will analyze les to determine if multiple copies for a le or a
portion of a le can be saved in a more ecient format

Modify Policy button Denes the type of data reduction to use and sets lters to determine when les are
considered for data reduction.
Data deduplication is always enabled in the data reduction policy; it increases
storage space eciency with both text and binary les.

Rehydrate on read Controls rehydration of data on read attempts after deduplication is turned o.
When enabled, Rehydrate on read causes the deduplicated data in the container to
be written in rehydrated form on rst read.

Field Description Shortcut
Size NAS container size. After creating a NAS container, you can increase its size as
needed. You can also decrease the size of a NAS container in the Size eld using the
Group Manager GUI or CLI.
