Connect a Computer to a Volume
Whenyoucreateavolume,thePSSeriesgroupautomaticallygeneratesaniSCSItargetname,withthevolume
nameappendedtotheendofthetargetname.EachvolumeappearsonthenetworkasaniSCSItarget.
AnexampleofaniSCSItargetnameforavolumenameddbvolisasfollows:

Toconnectacomputertoavolume:
1. InstallandconfigureaniSCSIinitiatoronthecomputer.Hardwareandsoftwareinitiatorsareavailablefrom
differentvendors.Configureyourinitiatorusingtheinstructionsprovidedbythevendor.
Note: DellrecommendsthatyouvisittheTechnicalSupportwebsitetoobtainimportantinformationabout
usinginitiatorstoaccessPSSeriesgroupvolumes.
2. Makesurethatthecomputermatchesoneofthevolume’saccesscontrolrecords.Todisplaytherecordsfor
avolume:
UsingtheCLI,enterthefollowingcommand:
volume select volume_name access show
UsingtheGUI,expandVolumesinthefar-leftpanel,selectthevolumename,andclicktheAccesstab.
Ifnecessary,usetheCLIortheGUItocreateanaccesscontrolrecordthatthecomputerwillmatch.
