Default NAS Container Permissions Panel
When a le or directory is created, the default NAS container security style, which controls the permissions and ownership, is
applied. You must modify the NAS container to change the default le security style
Table 231. Default NAS Container Permissions Options
Option Description Shortcut
Mixed Supports both NTFS and UNIX security styles. The permissions and ownership for a
le or directory will be the last one set. Permissions and access rights from one
protocol to another are automatically translated.
Alt+M
NTFS Controls le access by Windows permissions in all protocols. A client can change the
permission and ownership by using the Windows Security tab. This option is the
default.
Alt+N
UNIX Controls le access in all protocols. A client can change a permission only by using
the chmod and chown commands on the NFS mount point. This option shows the
default UNIX permissions for les and directories created in the NAS container by
Windows clients using SMB.
This option enables you to set read, write, and execute permission on the owner,
group, and others for both les and directories. The numeric value for the security
selections is displayed.
To change UNIX permissions for Windows directories and les, you must modify the
NAS container.
