Usage
Information
This address is used by first-hop routers to send Register packets on behalf of source multicast hosts.
The RP addresses are stored in the order in which they are entered. RP addresses learned via BSR take
priority over static RP addresses. Without the override option, RPs advertised by the BSR updates take
precedence over the statically configured RPs.
ip pim rp-candidate

Configure a PIM router to send out a Candidate-RP-Advertisement message to the Bootstrap (BS)
router or define group prefixes that are defined with the RP address to PIM BSR.
Syntax
ip pim rp-candidate {interface [priority]}
To return to the default value, enter no ip pim rp-candidate {interface [priority]} command.

Priority is stored at BSR router when receiving a Candidate-RP-Advertisement.

Enter the following keywords and slot/port or number information:
For a Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
GigabitEthernet
followed by the slot/port information.
For a Loopback interface, enter the keyword
loopback followed by a
number from 0 to 16383.
For Port Channel interface types, enter the keyword
port-channel
followed by a number from 1 to 255.
For a SONET interface, enter the keyword
sonet followed by the slot/
port information.
For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
TenGigabitEthernet followed by the slot/port information.
For a VLAN, enter the keyword
vlan followed by a number from 1 to
4094.
