Enable DHCP Server
DHCP server is disabled by default.
In the following figure, an IP phone is powered by PoE and has acquired an IP address from the Dell
Force10 system, which is advertising LLDP-MED. The leased IP address is displayed using
show ip dhcp
binding, and confirmed with show lldp neighbors.

Configure a Method of Hostname Resolution
Dell Force10 systems are capable of providing DHCP clients with parameters for two methods of
hostname resolution.
Address Resolution using DNS
A domain is a group of networks. DHCP clients query DNS IP servers when they need to correlate host
names to IP addresses.
Step Task Command Syntax Command Mode
1 Enter the DHCP command-line context. ip dhcp server CONFIGURATION
2 Enable DHCP server. no disable
Default: Disabled

3 Display the current DHCP configuration.
show config

1 Create a domain. domain-name name DHCP <POOL>
2 Specify in order of preference the DNS servers that are
available to a DHCP client.
