System Time and Date
The commands in this chapter configure time values on the system, either using the Dell Networking
Operating System (OS), or the hardware, or using the network time protocol (NTP). With NTP, the switch
can act only as a client to an NTP clock host.
For more information, refer to the “Network Time Protocol” section of the Management chapter in the
Dell Networking OS Configuration Guide.
calendar set
Set the time and date for the switch hardware clock.
Syntax
calendar set time month day year
Parameters
time Enter the time in hours:minutes:seconds. For the hour
variable, use the 24-hour format; for example, 17:15:00 is
5:15 pm.
month Enter the name of one of the 12 months in English. You can
enter the name of a day to change the order of the display to
time day month year.
day Enter the number of the day. The range is from 1 to 31. You
can enter the name of a month to change the order of the
display to time day month year.
year Enter a four-digit number as the year. The range is from 1993
to 2035.

Usage
Information
You can change the order of the month and day parameters to enter the time and
date as time day month year.
In the switch, the hardware clock is separate from the software and is called the
calendar. This hardware clock runs continuously. After the hardware clock (the
calendar) is set, the system automatically updates the software clock after system
bootup. You cannot delete the hardware clock (calendar).
