Dell Hybrid Client troubleshooting
This section provides information about how to identify and resolve issues you may observe when using Dell Hybrid Client.
Using log files for troubleshooting
You can use log files to identify issues and troubleshoot your devices powered by Dell Hybrid Client.
Enable dev mode in Dell Hybrid Client
Dev Mode enables you to access the terminal application and export system logs.
Steps
1. Turn on the device powered by Dell Hybrid Client.
2. When the Dell logo appears, press the Esc key.
The Grub Boot menu is displayed.
3. Press the E key to edit the grub option.
4. Enter the grub credentials.
The default username is admin. The GRUB password is set by the administrator. You can view the GRUB password on the
Wyse Management Suite console. See, View the GRUB password.
5. Edit the kernel parameter entry as follows:
a. Add the string dhc-dev-mode to the kernel parameter.
For example,
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.0.0-1040-oem-osp1
root=UUID=98682104-07b9-4d5e-845a-2d9324c36f60 ro mem_sleep_default =deep quiet
splash dhc-dev-mode vt.handoff=1
b. Press the Ctrl + X key combination to save your changes.
The device automatically reboots.
6. Log in to Dell Hybrid Client.
A terminal application is available in the desktop applications menu, and the export system logs option is available in Device
Settings. Use the Bremen account to manage sudo or elevated privileges. Username is bremen and password is specified
by the administrator during the initial setup. In Dell Hybrid Client version 1.5, you can use the Grub password to access the
Bremen account for managing sudo or elevated privileges.
NOTE: The Dev Mode setting is disabled every time when you restart the device.
Next steps
Use the Export System Logs option to extract the Dell Hybrid Client system log files. For more information about how to export
system logs, see Extract log files using Device Settings.
Request log files using Wyse Management Suite
The device must be enabled to pull the log file using Wyse Management Suite. When this method is used, all the required logs
are pulled to the Wyse Management Suite server.
Steps
1. Go to the Devices page, and click a particular device.
