Replacing the hard drive or the solid-state
drive
NOTE: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer and follow

CAUTION: Hard drives are fragile. Exercise care when handling the hard drive.
Procedure
1. Align the screw holes on the hard-drive bracket with the screw holes on the hard drive.
2. Replace the four screws (M3x3) that secure the hard-drive bracket to the hard drive.
NOTE: Steps 3 and 4 apply if the storage device is an M.2 2280 solid-state drive.
3. Install the interposer to the hard-drive bracket.
a. Align the screw holes on the interposer with the screw holes on the hard-drive bracket.
b. Replace the two screws (M2x3) that secure the interposer to the hard-drive bracket.
4. Install the M.2 2280 solid-state drive.
a. Align the notch on the M.2 solid-state drive with the tab on the solid-state drive slot.
b. Slide the M.2 solid-state drive firmly into the solid-state drive slot at an angle.
c. Align the screw hole on the M.2 solid-state drive with the screw hole on the hard-drive bracket.
d. Replace the screw (M2x3) that secures the M.2 solid-state drive to the hard-drive bracket.
5. Connect the interposer to the hard-drive assembly.
6. Align the screw holes on the hard-drive assembly with the screw holes on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
7. Replace the screws three (M2x3) that secure the hard-drive assembly to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
8. Route the hard-drive cable through the routing guides on the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
9. Connect the hard-drive cable to the system board.
10. Adhere the tape that secures the hard-drive cable to the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Post-requisites
Replace the base cover.
