Steps
1. Lift the Mylar that covers the system board.
NOTE: The number of screws varies depending on the configuration ordered.
2. In reverse sequential order (4>3>2>1) loosen the four captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
3. Lift the heat sink from the system board.
Installing the heat sink
Prerequisites
If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.
About this task
NOTE: If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced, use the thermal grease provided in the kit to ensure that
thermal conductivity is achieved.
CAUTION: For maximum cooling of the processor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the heat sink. The oils
in your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal grease.
NOTE: For computers with discrete graphics the heat sink will have 7 captive screws, for computers without discrete
graphics, the heat sink will have 4 captive screws.
