3.2.1.2 S6000 VLAN and Port Channel configuration
Though it is recommended to have dedicated switches for the Oracle database’s public
and private traffic, in this FC-based preintegrated solution, the S6000 switches are used
for handling both types of traffic. In such configurations, it is recommended to segregate
these two network traffics within the switch. Hence, the switches are preconfigured by
segregating these two network traffics on separate VLANs. Using one of the S6000
switches as an example, Figure 8 shows the VLAN and port channel configuration on the
S6000 switches.

Four FortyGigE ports (0/64, 68, 72, and 76) are preconfigured for customers to connect
and communicate with the public network of Oracle database and to remotely connect
with the Management Server. If more than four is required then the undefined ports 0/96,
104, 112, and 120 can be used for the same. Similarly, if forty Gigabit network is not
available then customers can choose to use up to 15 preconfigured TenGigE ports (0/80-
94) to connect and communicate with the DISOD public network.
VLAN 30 is configured with virtual IP address that is used for managing the switch.
Dedicated physical management port on the switch is not configured. Though not
recommended, if needed, customers can configure and connect the dedicated
management port to their network for direct access and management.
By preconfiguring the Oracle database public, private, and management traffic on distinct
VLAN IDs, the DISOD ToR S6000 switches provide a secure and segregated network
environment.
