Battery Performance NOTE: For information about the Dell warranty for your computer, see the Product Information Guide or separate paper warranty document that shipped with your computer. For optimal computer performance and to help preserve BIOS settings, operate your Dell™ Tablet-PC with the main battery installed at all times. One battery is supplied as standard equipment in the battery bay.
Checking the Battery Charge The following features provide information on the battery charge: • Dell QuickSet Battery Meter • Microsoft Windows Power Meter window and Power icon ( Windows Vista and in Windows XP) • Battery charge gauge and health gauge • Low-battery warning in Dell™ QuickSet Battery Meter If Dell QuickSet is installed, press to display the QuickSet Battery Meter.
Check the Battery Health NOTE: You can check battery health in one of two ways: by using the charge gauge on the battery as described below or by using the Battery Meter in Dell QuickSet. For information about QuickSet, right-click the icon in the taskbar, and click Help. To check the battery health using the charge gauge, press and hold the status button on the battery charge gauge for at least 3 seconds.
3 Select Enable hibernation. 4 Click Apply and OK. To enter Hibernate mode: 1 Type the key sequence. 2 Select Shut Down→ Hibernate. If you have set you set the power management options to Hibernate in the Power Options Properties window or the QuickSet Power Management Wizard, you may also use one of the following methods to enter hibernate mode: • Press the power button. • Close the display. • Press .
The battery is too hot to start charging if the light flashes alternately green and orange. Disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet and allow the computer and the battery to cool to room temperature. Then connect the computer to an electrical outlet to continue charging the battery. For information about resolving problems with a battery, see “Power Problems” in your User’s Guide. Removing the Battery CAUTION: Using an incompatible battery may increase the risk of fire or explosion.
To replace the battery, follow the removal procedure in reverse order. Storing a Battery Remove the battery when you store your computer for an extended period of time. A battery discharges during prolonged storage. After a long storage period, fully recharge the battery (see "Charging the Battery" on page 21) before you use it. Troubleshooting Lockups and Software Problems CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.
TU R N T H E TA B L E T - P C O F F — If you are unable to get a response by pressing a key on your keyboard or touching your display with the pen or your finger, press and hold the power button for at least 8 to 10 seconds (until the TabletPC turns off), and then restart your Tablet-PC. A program stops responding END THE PROGRAM — 1 Press simultaneously to access the Task Manager. 2 Click the Applications tab. 3 Click to select the program that is no longer responding.
3 In the welcome screen, click Next. 4 Follow the instructions on the screen. When to Use the Dell Diagnostics If you experience a problem with your Tablet-PC, perform the checks in Lockups and Software Problems (see "Lockups and Software Problems" on page 23), and run the Dell Diagnostics before you contact Dell for technical assistance. It is recommended that you print these procedures before you begin.
The Tablet-PC runs the Pre-boot System Assessment (PSA), a series of initial tests of your system board, keyboard, display, memory, hard drive, etc. • During the assessment, answer any questions that appear. • If failures are detected during the Pre-boot System Assessment, write down the error code(s) and contact Dell (see “Contacting Dell” in your User’s Guide). If the Pre-boot System Assessment completes successfully, the following message appears: “Booting Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition.
7 When the Dell Diagnostics Main Menu appears, select the test you want to run. Dell Diagnostics Main Menu 1 After the Dell Diagnostics loads and the Main Menu appears, click the button for the option you want. NOTE: It is recommended that you select Test System to run a complete test on your Tablet-PC.
3 If a problem is encountered during a test, a message appears with an error code and a description of the problem. Write down the error code and problem description and contact Dell (see “Contacting Dell” in your User’s Guide). NOTE: The Service Tag for your Tablet-PC is located at the top of each test screen. If you contact Dell, technical support will ask for your Service Tag.

Vervang de batterij uitsluitend met een compatibele batterij die u bij Dell hebt aangeschaft. Deze batterij is speciaal ontworpen voor gebruik in een Dell-computer. Gebruik geen batterij van een andere computer voor uw Dell-computer. LET OP: Gooi batterijen niet met het huisafval weg.
Batterijprestatie OPMERKING: Raadpleeg de Productinformatiegids of het afzonderlijke papieren garantiedocument dat met uw computer is meegeleverd voor informatie over de Dell-garantie voor uw computer. Voor een optimale prestatie van de tablet pc en om de instellingen van de BIOS te behouden, dient u de draagbare Dell™ tablet pc te alle tijden te gebruiken terwijl de hoofdbatterij geïnstalleerd is. Er wordt standaard één batterij meegeleverd; deze bevindt zich in het batterijcompartiment.
De batterijlading controleren De volgende functies bieden informatie over de batterijlading: • Dell QuickSet-batterijmeter • Het venster Energiemeter in Microsoft Windows en het pictogram Stroom ( in Windows Vista en in Windows XP) • Batterijladingmeter en batterijstatusmeter • Waarschuwing bijna lege batterij Dell™ QuickSet-batterijmeter Als Dell QuickSet is geïnstalleerd, drukt u op om de QuickSetbatterijmeter weer te geven.
De batterijstatus controleren OPMERKING: U kunt de batterijstatus op twee manieren raadplegen: door gebruik te maken van de ladingmeter op de batterij zoals hieronder beschreven of door gebruik te maken van de batterijmeter in Dell QuickSet. Voor meer informatie over QuickSet klikt u met de rechtermuisknop op het pictogram op de taakbalk en klikt u vervolgens op Help. Als u het batterijvermogen wilt meten met de laadmeter, moet u minstens 3 seconden de statusknop op de batterijladingmeter ingedrukt houden.
U activeert de slaapstand als volgt: 1 Klik op Start→ Configuratiescherm→ Prestaties en onderhoud→ Energiebeheer. 2 Klik op het tabblad Slaapstand. 3 Selecteer de optie Slaapstand inschakelen. 4 Klik op Toepassen en klik op OK. U kunt de tablet pc als volgt in de slaapstand zetten: 1 Houd de toetsencombinatie ingedrukt. 2 Selecteer Afsluiten→ Slaapstand.
Als de batterij verhit is geraakt door gebruik in de computer of omdat de omgevingstemperatuur te hoog is, is het mogelijk dat de batterij niet wordt opgeladen als u de computer op een stopcontact aansluit. De batterij is te warm om te beginnen met opladen als het lampje afwisselend groen en oranje knippert. Koppel de computer los van het stopcontact en laat de computer en batterij afkoelen tot kamertemperatuur. Sluit de computer vervolgens aan op een stopcontact om de batterij op te laden.
Als u de batterij wilt vervangen, volgt u dezelfde procedure in omgekeerde volgorde. Een batterij opslaan Verwijder de batterij als u de computer voor langere tijd opslaat. Een batterij verliest zijn lading als deze gedurende een lange periode niet wordt gebruikt. Na een lange opslagperiode moet u voor gebruik de batterij volledig opladen (zie "De batterij opladen" op pagina 54).
De tablet pc reageert niet meer KENNISGEVING: Als u het besturingssysteem niet kunt afsluiten, bestaat de mogelijkheid dat u gegevens zult verliezen. Z E T D E T A B L E T P C U I T — Als de tablet niet reageert wanneer u een toets op het toetsenbord indrukt of het beeldscherm met uw pen of vinger aanraakt, moet u de aan/uit-knop minimaal 8 tot 10 seconden ingedrukt houden, totdat de tablet pc wordt uitgeschakeld. Start de tablet pc vervolgens opnieuw op.
Windows XP 1 Klik op Start→ Help en ondersteuning→ Een probleem oplossen→ Problemen met toepassingen of software. 2 Klik op Software uitvoeren die in eerdere versies werkte. 3 Klik in het welkomstscherm op Volgende. 4 Volg de instructies op het scherm.
Dell Diagnostics LET OP: Voordat u met een van de procedures in dit gedeelte begint, dient u de veiligheidsinstructies op te volgen die in de Productinformatiegids zijn beschreven. KENNISGEVING: Dell Diagnostics) werkt alleen op Dell™-computers. Dell Diagnostics starten vanaf de cd Drivers and Utilities 1 Plaats de cd Drivers and Utilities (Stuur- en hulpprogramma's) in het station. 2 Zet de tablet pc uit en start deze opnieuw op. Zodra het DELL-logo verschijnt, drukt u meteen op . OPMERKING: Als u te lang wacht en het logo van het besturingssysteem verschijnt, moet u blijven wachten tot het bureaublad van Microsoft® Windows® verschijnt. Zet de tablet pc vervolgens uit en probeer het opnieuw.
2 Als u de optie Test System (Computer testen) selecteert, zal het volgende menu worden weergegeven: OPMERKING: U wordt aangeraden om in het onderliggende menu Extended Test (Uitgebreide test) te selecteren om een grondiger test uit te voeren van de apparaten binnen de tablet pc. Optie Functie Express Test (Snelle test) Hiermee voert u een snelle test van de apparaten binnen de computer uit. Deze test neemt normaliter 10 tot 20 minuten in beslag.
Tabblad Functie Results (Resultaten) Hier worden de resultaten van de test weergegeven, samen met eventuele foutcondities die zijn aangetroffen. Errors (Fouten) Hier worden de aangetroffen foutcondities en de foutcodes en een beschrijving van het probleem weergegeven. Help Hier wordt de test beschreven en worden eventuele vereisten voor het uitvoeren van de test vermeld. REMARQUE : À l'aide de Dell™ ExpressCharge™, l'adaptateur secteur charge une batterie complètement déchargée à 80 pour cent en environ 1 heure et à 100 pour cent en environ 2 heures, lorsque l'ordinateur est hors tension. La durée de chargement est plus longue lorsque l'ordinateur est sous tension. Vous pouvez laisser la batterie dans l'ordinateur aussi longtemps que vous le souhaitez. Les circuits internes de la batterie préviennent toute surcharge.
Pour retirer la batterie : 1 Si l'ordinateur est installé dans une station d'accueil, retirez-le. Pour obtenir des instructions, consultez la documentation qui accompagne celle-ci. 2 Assurez-vous que l'ordinateur est éteint ou en mode de gestion de l'alimentation. 3 Faites glisser le loquet de la baie de batterie situé sur le dessous de l'ordinateur, puis retirez la batterie de la baie. Pour remettre en place la batterie, suivez la procédure de retrait dans l'ordre inverse.

Lancement de Dell Diagnostics à partir de votre disque dur Dell Diagnostics se trouve dans une partition cachée (utilitaire de diagnostics) de votre disque dur. REMARQUE : Si aucune image n'apparaît sur l'écran de votre Tablet-PC, contactez Dell (reportez-vous à la section « Contacter Dell » de votre Guide d'utilisation). 4 Appuyez sur une touche pour démarrer Dell Diagnostics à partir de la partition de diagnostics du disque dur. REMARQUE : Si un message indique qu'aucune partition de diagnostic n'a été trouvée, exécutez Dell Diagnostics à partir du support Drivers and Utilities. 5 Lorsque le menu principal de Dell Diagnostics s'affiche, sélectionnez le test à effectuer. Prüfen des Akkuladezustands Die folgenden Funktionen zeigen Informationen über den Akkustand an: • Akkuanzeige von Dell QuickSet • Die Energieanzeige von Microsoft Windows und das Energiesymbol ( in Windows Vista und in Windows XP) • Akku-Ladestand- und -Zustandsanzeige • Warnung „Akku niedrig“ Akkuanzeige von Dell™ QuickSet Ist Dell QuickSet installiert, drücken Sie , um die Akkuanzeige von QuickSet anzuzeigen.
Prüfen des Akkuzustands ANMERKUNG: Sie können den Akkuzustand auf zwei verschiedene Weisen prüfen: durch Kontrollieren der Ladestandanzeige auf dem Akku, wie nachstehend beschrieben, oder durch Kontrolle der Akkuanzeige in Dell QuickSet. Weitere Informationen über QuickSet erhalten Sie, wenn Sie mit der rechten Maustaste in der Taskleiste auf das Symbol klicken und dann auf Hilfe klicken.
Um den PC manuell in den Ruhemodus von Windows XP zu versetzen, müssen Sie zuvor den Ruhemodus aktivieren. So aktivieren Sie den Ruhemodus: 1 Klicken Sie auf Start→ Systemsteuerung→ Leistung und Wartung→ Energieoptionen. 2 Klicken Sie auf die Registerkarte Ruhemodus. 3 Wählen Sie Ruhezustand aktivieren. 4 Klicken Sie auf Übernehmen und OK. So rufen Sie den Ruhemodus manuell auf: 1 Drücken Sie die Tastenkombinaton . 2 Wählen Sie Herunterfahren→ Ruhemodus.
ANMERKUNG: Mit Dell™ ExpressCharge™ lädt das Netzteil einen vollständig entladenen Akku bei ausgeschaltetem Computer zu 80 Prozent in etwa 1 Stunde und zu 100 Prozent in etwa 2 Stunden. Bei eingeschaltetem Computer verlängert sich die Ladezeit entsprechend. Der Akku kann beliebig lange im Computer verbleiben. Ein im Akku integrierter Schaltkreis verhindert das Überladen des Akkus.
3 Schieben Sie die Akkufachfreigabevorrichtung auf der Unterseite des Computers zur Seite und nehmen Sie anschließend den Akku aus dem Akkufach heraus. Um den Akku wieder einzusetzen, gehen Sie in umgekehrter Reihenfolge wie beim Herausnehmen vor. Lagern eines Akkus Entfernen Sie den Akku, wenn Sie den Computer für längere Zeit lagern möchten. Akkus entladen sich während einer längeren Lagerzeit.
Der Tablet PC reagiert nicht mehr HINWEIS: Wenn Sie das Betriebssystem nicht ordnungsgemäß herunterfahren können, können Daten verloren gehen. Controllo del livello di carica della batteria Per controllare il livello di carica della batteria, premere e rilasciare il pulsante dello stato sull'indicatore del livello di carica della batteria per accendere gli indicatori del livello di carica. Ciascun indicatore rappresenta circa il 20 percento del livello di carica totale della batteria. Se, ad esempio, il livello di carica della batteria è pari all'80 percento, vi sono quattro indicatori accesi.
Per entrare manualmente nella modalità di ibernazione in Windows Vista, fare clic sul pulsante Start di Windows Vista e spostare il mouse sul triangolo retto accanto all'icona Lock (Blocca) per aprire la finestra Power Options Properties (Proprietà - Opzioni risparmio energia), quindi fare clic su Hibernate (Metti in ibernazione). Se a bateria estiver quente devido à utilização no seu computador ou a um ambiente quente, pode não ser carregada quando o computador estiver ligado a uma tomada eléctrica. A bateria está excessivamente quente para iniciar um ciclo de carga se a luz piscar alternadamente verde e laranja. Desligue o computador da tomada eléctrica e permita ao computador e à bateria arrefecerem a uma temperatura ambiente. De seguida, ligue o computador a uma tomada eléctrica para poder continuar a carga da bateria.
Para substituir a bateria, siga o procedimento de remoção na ordem inversa. Armazenar uma bateria Retire a bateria quando armazenar o computador durante um longo período de tempo. É recomendável a impressão destes procedimentos antes de começar.

NOTA: con Dell™ ExpressCharge™, cuando el ordenador está apagado, el adaptador de CA carga una batería completamente descargada al 80% en alrededor de 1 hora y al 100% en aproximadamente 2 horas. El tiempo de carga aumenta con el ordenador encendido. Puede dejar la batería en el ordenador todo el tiempo que desee. Los circuitos internos de la batería impiden que se sobrecargue.
3 Deslice el pasador de liberación del compartimento de la batería situado en la parte inferior del ordenador y, a continuación, retire la batería del compartimento. El Tablet-PC no responde AVISO: es posible que pierda datos si no puede apagar el sistema operativo.
